Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air can become unhealthful, especially during a cold New England winter, when a house is tightly sealed to keep the cold out. In fact, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says that the air inside a home can be more polluted than the air in the most crowded city, as combustion gases, cleaning products and bacteria accumulate.
C.K. Smith understands indoor air quality, and we can help you create a cleaner, more healthful environment by installing equipment such as
air filtration systems that remove contaminants from the air you breathe.
We also clean duct systems to eliminate build-ups of dust and other materials like pet hair and dander that can contaminate your home's air if not addressed. Our technicians use specialized tools, including the Hepa-Aire® system from Abatement Technologies, to dislodge dirt and other debris in your system's ductwork, and then vacuum them out with a high-powered vacuum cleaner. In addition, we clean the other components of your heating or cooling system to eliminate contaminants.
C.K. Smith's Duct Cleaning Service includes the following steps.
- A member of our professional staff will inspect your home or commercial building to determine the size and quantity of system components and recommend methods to improve your indoor air quality.
- All registers and grills will be temporarily sealed to increase the effectiveness of the duct-cleaning procedure.
- Special tools, including a pneumatic whip, will be used to loosen the dust and other debris that have become attached to the ductwork and other heating/cooling system components.
- Each supply and return duct and grill/register will be vacuumed.
- The other system components, like the blower, drip pans, etc. will be cleaned.
- Air filters will be inspected and replaced, as necessary.
- All dirt and debris will be removed.
- The system will be returned to operational mode.
